President’s Corner
Dear Members,
February already! It’s a perfect time to reflect on our shared passion for amateur radio. As we embrace another exciting month in the world of amateur radio, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your ongoing enthusiasm and commitment to our community. Whether you’re exploring new frequencies, perfecting your operating skills, or engaging in friendly contests, your passion for radio keeps our club vibrant and alive.
Upcoming Events:
Monthly Club Meeting
Date: March 14, 2026
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Johnson County Emergency Operations Center.
Agenda: Reaching out to our members and looking to have a tech day in late April or early May. Let me know your thoughts by emailing me at tedjagen@w5jcr.com , would like to put a committee together to plan and organize the event. Also, a committee for Summer Field Day. So, if you would like to be on a committee, let me know.
Member Spotlights:
Spot lighting those who took testing this past club meeting. Congrats to Kirk (KJ5OFE) and Jacob (KJ5OFF) for passing and obtaining their Technician license and Sandra (KA5YTV) and Steve (KJ5NHJ) for upgrading too General!
Technical Corner:
This month’s topic is: Net Control Station – how does it impact my abilities as radio operator? How do I get into it? Ask an Elmer about being a Net Control Station, we all had to learn and practice to become confident and effective. I will say being one, not a perfect one, I really enjoy the experience. Not only for local 2M/70CM, but for all bands and all locations across the world.
Get Involved!
We are always looking for volunteers for events and activities. If you are interested in contributing or having ideas for future club projects, please reach out! If you would like to present a radio operator topic, reach out, we would like to learn from you!
